I had a realization during work that I'm going about this blogging thing all wrong. I had no focus and, more importantly, no content. So I need to make changes. Don't expect changes overnight though. I'm a slow person.

Taco Cabana

I ate at Taco Cabana earlier this week. And I've come to the following conclusions:

1) Taco combos: If you're someone with even half a decent appetite, 2 is definitely not enough.

2) Unless you plan to eat through your chips right away, order guacamole with your chips instead of queso. Especially now that it's Fall, queso and tacos cool down too quickly. Which brings up...

3) The tacos are wrapped in foil for a good reason. Don't unwrap one unless you are ready to eat it immediately. Make repeat trips if you need your salsa or better yet, just put it in those mini-cups so you can eat your tacos while it's still warm.

4) One mini-cup is equivalent to a good amount of pico de gallo for one taco.

Mini Buffalo Ranch Chicken

Been a while since my last post. Been eating home-made sandwiches so didn't have much opportunity to eat out. I recently went to JitB to try the Mini Buffalo Ranch Chicken. It was horrid. It just didn't work, especially at that size.

For those curious, my sandwich was two wheat toasts, two slices of salami, two slices of pastrami, 12 slices of pepperoni, a couple leaves of lettuce, a couple slices of tomatoe, mustard, and either mayo or ketchup.

McD's Free Mocha Monday

McD's currenty has a free Mocha sample for every Monday. I went out to try an iced mocha and the cup itself was very small, almost like a shot glass, yet they do the whole whipped cream topping on top so it looks like a rather cute, miniature version of their standard ice mocha. I ought to take a picture the next time I grab one.

Wingstop & KFC

During lunch I had some Wingstop. It's always good stuff. I wanted to order some baked beans but I already had my hands full with the wings, fries, and cheese dip. The place is expensive and there isn't much as far as customer convenience goes but the food obviously makes it worth it as seen by the ever present customers at the place. I really do wish they had an accessible trash can though.

And I had KFC at night. Their fried chicken breading is unmistakably one of the best in the business but the quality of the chicken overall is pretty bad in comparison to Church's, especially when it comes to thighs. Not only is the size of a thigh on a completely different level but the taste and texture is just that much better. I want to try the KFC original recipe strip next time since I want to taste more of the breading.

Bacon Smokehouse Big Mouth Burger

Had Chili's Bacon Smokehouse Big Mouth Burger (I think that's the name). The burger by itself was not so good so it was up to the thick bacon and hearty BBQ sauce to save the day. I definitely won't be ordering another burger from Chili's. Considering my experience here and at Red Robins, it could be that I don't like the burgers served at chain restaurants. I'll test this when I have my next burger from Texas Hamburger Palace which I ordered from before and quite enjoyed for the most part.

Strange coffee

McD's McCafe coffees seem to have this taste that kinda lingers with you long after you've finished it. I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Would you like it over-crispy?

I had Jack in the Box's mini sirloin burgers. I was not impressed. In fact, Jack's sirloin burgers haven't really grown on me at all nor the sirloin burgers at other places. It just seems to be a bigger slab of meat and that's all to it. There does seem to be a taste unique to the sirloin burgers but it's not something I'd pay a little extra for.

I also had McD's Ranch BLT grilled chicken. So-so. I think I'm ordering value menu from McD's for the time being unless a craving really hits me. I was going to order value today but a frying pan came out of nowhere and whacked me over the head.

I don't know what it was about today (technically, it's now yesterday since I'm typing this after midnight) but both fries from Jack and McD's were somewhat overcooked and came out too crispy and fried. Was it the weather??

Big Mac

Had the good old #1 today; a Big Mac combo. As much as I like the Double Stacker, it will never replace the Big Mac. I think it's the balance of everything that makes a Big Mac so good; something the Stacker burgers can't replicate and fails even more with each bigger Stacker. Which I guess explains why I prefer the Double Stacker but even then, it kinda feels overboard for me. The meat, cheese, and bacon...really killer I tell ya.

Test post

I just noticed but that's some goofy ad that's currently showing on the blog. I'm so tempted to click on it just to see what pile of baloney they're trying to sell but apparently we're not allowed to click on the ads on our own page.

BK boycott

The BK near my workplace is currently on my temporary boycott list. I ordered a double stacker meal and got what is best described as a single stacker and a half and while they were nice enough to put the lettuce on, I can't taste the extra sauce. I think it's time for a Big Mac for my next outing.

PS: I'm only boycotting the location near my workplace since that's the one that screwed up. Don't burn the crop because of one bad corn, if you know what I mean.

So why a blog?

I wanted a place to rant but places like Facebook hit a bit too close too home and there's going to be stuff I'll be mentioning here that people around me in RL just don't get. Very sad but that's the way it is. While I'm at it, I'll mention some food favorites.

Damn, I'm getting hungry just typing that. Looks like I'll have to eat first. Almost time to work too, damn. :p
